The King of Cats (Salem's Tails , No 4)
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (January, 1999)
Author: Mark Dubowski
Average review score:

Frightening and Funny at the Same Time!
The sentence..."The jars were chipped and cracked, but they were neatly shelved, and the picture-writing on them was still cherry and bright after five thousand years."...told us an ancient story. The sentence after...."Only a single jar was in perfect condition.." gave us a large shiver! I think the King of Cats is an excellent book for people who are fans of Sabrina the Teenage Witch or even someone that likes scary stories because this book is scary!

Tooo much bad luck
The book The King of cats (Salems Tails) was very interesting. If you like books that you never want to put down this is deffinetly a book for you! This book is about a cat named Salem who lives with three witches and he gets into a bind and bad luck is cursed on his house. So if you think that this would be an interesting book for you and you want to know why the bad luck happens then this is deffinetly a book for you!

Salem, cute and funny.
Sometimes Salem is too smart for his own good! He had to sneak into the local museum to see a special exhibit on ancient Egypt. And then he had to show how smart he was by reading a riddle on an ancient vase. The riddle that promises bad luck until it is solved. Now he's doomed! Sabrina and her aunts don't believe Salem's having bad luck. But how else can they explain the way everything around him keeps getting broken or ruined? It's getting so bad, the aunts are going to make him an "outside kitty" forever! With a little magic and a quick trip back in time, Salem is determined to find out the answer to the riddle--before it's too late!

Guide to Survival
Published in Paperback by Whitaker Pub. (December, 1990)
Author: Salem Kirban
Average review score:

Born Again Arab explains the Bible the Christians
It's unfortunate that many of Kirban's books are either out-of-print or hard to get. Many Christians familiar with Grant Jeffrey or Hal Lindsey would find much familar ground in Kirban's works. A born-again Arab, Kirban uses many examples from the Bible and then explains what they mean to us today. "Guide to Survival" mostly concerns Revelation. Kirban takes us down the road showing the prophecies that tell us how the world will end and in what order. Yes, there's quite a bit about the Rapture here, and the time just before the Rapture, as well as a lot of material about what remains left undone for those "Left Behind". The pictures available in the trade paperback edition help emphasize the warnings that Kirban gives to all of us. If you like the "Left Behind" books and want to understand how they really can occur, then I can recommend almost no better writer to start with than Salem Kirban.

Guide to Survival
This book is an excellent read. It is informative, attention-getting and it is written in a format that is easy to understand. This book is an excellent reference book for anyone who is studying the Bible and the prophecies of it. For a Christian or non-Christian this is a must have book!

Hocus Pocus

Author: Todd Strasser

GREAT BOOK FOR CHILDREN
This book is by far the best children's book about witches and magick that I have ever had the pleasure of sharing with my children. If you are sick of your children coming home after school and watching TV or playing video games then this book will surly get them reading instead. If you are familiar with the movie Hocus Pocus, this book follows basically the same plot line but not really. It does have some twists and turns along the way. I recommend this book for all those young readers out there in BookWorld.

Best book ever
This is a story about three witches that try to take childrens souls to live longer. The witches are the Sanderson sisters.they are very mean.Thay try to chase poeple.

The Horrors of Salem's Witch Dungeon (Collectible Classics, No. 9)
Published in Paperback by Old Saltbox Publishing (June, 1986)
Author: Robert E. Cahill
Average review score:

chockfull of interesting anecdotes from the past
I gleaned a lot of new information from this small but powerful book telling some of the tales from our colonial past. Mr. Cahill certainly has gathered up some very interesting anecdotes from a dark aspect of our history.
The only problem I have with this book is he does not include a bibliography in the back. In his other books in the series he does. Since I am involved in research regarding the Hartford Witch trials, I am disappointed he did not have his facts straight regarding the circumstances of this sordid story. It just made me skeptical of his other "retellings" of history.
Other than this, it is a very entertaining and interesting read!

The Late Great Johnny Ace and the Transition from R&B to Rock 'N' Roll (Music in American Life)
Published in Paperback by Univ of Illinois Pr (Trd) (March, 2001)
Author: James M. Salem
Average review score:

The Late,Great,Johnny Ace
At long last,a book about Johnny Ace,rock&roll's first great tragedy.(He preceeded Buddy Holly's plane crash by a good 5 years.)Indeed, they had barely begun calling it "rock & roll"when Johnny killed himself playing russian roulette on Dec.25,1954.(Not Christmas eve,as is usually reported.)This fine book dispells many myths about that fateful night, and is also a welcome addition to the rock'n roll literature.A must read about the early days of rock music.

The Late Great Johnny Ace
A biography that has been long overdue,"The Late Great Johnny Ace.." is a marvelous journey to the backsteps of an long overlooked persona. Ace is just as much a legend as James Dean or Elvis Presley, but has been for years sidelined to a mere footnote in rock history. Ace's sensational russian roulette death on Christmas Day 1954, has unfairly eclipsed his musical merits, and is usually the first open topic in a discussion about him. This book is an excellent read simply because it offers more information about Ace and his music than anything previously published. Salem not only takes the reader for a slow cruise through Ace's short life but he builds an incredible atmosphere of life as a musician in Memphis. Here we not only learn more of Johnny Ace the man, but of his world and the collision course fame put him on. Ace's tragic death is explored in grave detail dispelling many myths and half truths. A must-read for any music historian. Now if they could just turn this into a movie.

The Salem Witch Trials: A Day-To-Day Chronicle of a Community Under Siege
Published in Hardcover by Cooper Square Press (October, 2002)
Author: Marilynne K. Roach
Average review score:

Excellent look at the Salem Witch Trials
This novel is an excellent look into the exact events that took place during a six year period in history. It goes into great detail about all the various trials, the people and events of the time that contributed to create one of the most intriguing times in history.

Great book for study, casual and educational reading!
For all of those interested in reading about witchcraft hysteria, Ms. Roach's new book, The Salem Witch Trials: A Day-To-Day Chronicle of a Community Under Siege, (written after twenty-seven years of exhaustive research) documents the day-by-day events which culminated in one of the most shameful and horrifying chapters in America's heritage. Her meticulous footnoting and chronological accounts of how this historical oddity unfolded makes this book a valuable tool for historians and students. Also, the careful writing makes it an enjoyable reading for those that like to be caught up in the glorious intonations of prosaic language. Highly recommended!

The Most Beautiful Mathematical Formulas
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (April, 1992)
Authors: Lionel Salem, Frédéric Testard, and Coralie Salem
Average review score:

A book for CHILDREN, not for adults!!!
Don't be fooled by the title of this book. Yes, the book presents most of the important formulas, like Euler's eternal formula e to the power of i x pi plus one equal to zero. But that is it. There is no mathematical deduction or any related calculations . All that contained are cartoon pictures. So I would have two ratings for that book, for children, 5 stars, as this book can stimulate them to pursue mathematics further. One star for adult ( no zero ), so I give this book 3 stars on average!!!!

Beauty + Simplicity
Great book. It combines the simplicity of "where to find this formula in daily life", with comics, and a mathematical explanation. Like a gardener story to explain logarithms; or a history of 18th century to explain fractional numbers. It is an excellent gift to make that a kid love the simplicity of mathematics.
-

Excellent and whimsical look at the history of math
This is a wonderful book detailing some of the most important, and beautiful, discoveries in the history of mathematics. Each little story explains briefly, clearly, and simply everything from complex numbers to the Pythagorean Theorem. Brought to life through a light-hearted writing style the equations are made fun and interesting. Comical characters and perfectly eccentric illustrations accompany and enliven the text and give birth to humor in mathematics. Lionel Salem's writing, his daughter Coralie's illustrations, and the wonderful premise of the book combine to make for an entertaining piece of literature for everyone from those with no background in math to a PhD mathematician.

This is an excellent book, especially for the layperson averse to or ambivalent toward mathematics. Give it to a friend, a member of the family, or maybe a struggling math student. This is a book which anyone and everyone can enjoy.

The Perfect Mother
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Pinnacle Books (July, 2000)
Author: Jon Salem
Average review score:

Fizzled out early on
Sharon Driver and her husband, Heath, adopted a daughter, Katie, 15 years ago and 3 years ago Sharon gave birth to a son, Liam. Now Katie's birth mother, Georgette, is looking for her, and the woman ain't right.

Sharon is put upon, Heath is a philanderer, Liam is adorable, and Katie is troubled by teenage angst. The storyline builds around Georgette's insinuation into the Driver family. She spends big bucks and stacks up some bodies in her quest to reclaim her daughter, but it's all fairly predictable and never really builds up a full head of steam. There's lots of sex, most of it of the male fantasy variety. As a thriller, it simply fell somewhat short.

The Perfect Mother Is Just Like It Says, PERFECT!
I recently read Remember September last year and was sooo impressed by Jon Salem. Then a couple days ago while I was browsing in the stores I saw The Perfect Mother. Oh boy, I thought, it's by Jon Salem, so I figured its got to be good. I bought and loved every last word of it. Suspense throughout the entire book. It was about a woman named Georgette who gave her baby away for adoption when she was about 18 and now she wants her back. But now the girl is already 15 and living with a very loving and supportive family. But Georgette wants her "baby" back and she will do anything to get her back, EVEN KILL! Salem is a future Jeffery Deaver in my eyes.

I hate when...
I hate when I spend $6.00 for a book and read it in under a day! I liked this book! Some of the characters weren't particularly "likeable" (Heath is a jerk!) and Katie, the teen-aged daughter, was a little out of control. The book was a very fast read and the few times I put it down, I couldn't wait to get back to it. It held my interest and was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon and evening.

Three Complete Novels: Carrie, 'Salems' Lot, and The Shining
Published in Hardcover by Random House Value Pub (July, 2002)
Author: Stephen King
Average review score:

Great books, POOR edition...
I love these three Stephen King books. I bought this as soon as I saw that it existed, in an effort to get more of my books in hardback editions.

That being said, I have to say that I'm very disappointed in this edition. I'm only about a hundred pages into 'Salem's Lot, and I've already noticed several glaring editorial errors (missing periods, blatant spelling errors). The most amazing thing I've found so far is that page 241 is printed AGAIN on page 242! At first I thought perhaps I was just not concentrating, but a quick comparison of the two pages reveals that they are indeed the same page, with a different page number at the bottom.

The books are easily 5 stars a piece. And the fact that you can get these combined in hardback at such a low price is great! But be aware that you're getting exactly what you pay for, which is a compilation of three great books with slipshod editing, which can be very distracting.

Wow, what a set!
Three of the best novels Stephen King ever wrote:

1) Carrie - the first. Even if you've seen the movie a hundred times, this is one creepy little novel;

2) 'Salem's Lot - the scariest. King sets a mood that crawls right under your skin and stays there - heck, it moves around in there;

3) The Shining - the classic. A brilliant horror novel that is a classic along the lines of Lovecraft or even Poe --

These are three of King's BEST, if they had included "The Stand" here (still King's best novel ever), they could have called it the Definitive Stephen King. Definitely a must-have for all you Koontz and Saul fans that don't realize who was the first and the best!

All the best
I've read all these novels and my copies are nearly ragged so I decided to purchase this set. What a clever idea to package King's three best novels in one volume. If it's time to replace your old beat up copies of Carrie, Salems Lot, and Shinning pick this volume up today.
